Jackson and Sage Rosenfels were initially expected to battle each other for the starting quarterback job.

Of course, that’s about the same time that Brett Favre did his usual comeback waffling and the rest is history.

The Vikings still envision Jackson as their quarterback of the future, although I think they would stop short of calling him a franchise player.

Rosenfels has looked good in training camp and the preseason but seems like possible trade bait.

After running a number of tests, doctors have a better idea of what might be causing the pain for the wideout.

The Vikings are certainly a significantly better team with Favre as the starting quarterback over Tavaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels.

Peterson will make a big chunk of change the next two seasons, but all bets are off after that.

He is well aware of what happens to running backs once they hit the 30-year old mark and wants to make sure he gets paid again before that happens.

The mark is especially critical with Peterson because of his ferocious style of running, which will likely cut his career short.

Despite his desire for a new deal, Peterson has made it clear he will be at training camp from Day 1.

Favre seems all but certain that he is coming back, but his actions and his words don’t seem to jive.

While he underwent ankle surgery and has been working out with a local high school team, he still says he doesn’t know if he will be back.

Favre said that the ankle is still giving him problems and that he wants it to finally heal up.

Childress was hoping he could help speed up Favre’s decision so the team knows the quarterback situation going into training camp.

The quarterback said that playing another season won’t make a difference since the damage has already been done.

He did say that football had become work for him until last year when it became a game again.

Favre has been working out with high school players in Mississippi to prepare himself for training camp.

He has been testing out his surgically repaired ankle and believe that he is starting to see signs of progress.

Favre still remains mum on when or if he will return to the NFL, but this is another indication he plans to come back.

The quarterback is still resting and rehabbing after undergoing surgery on his injured ankle, another sign he plans to return.

He still has to have a bad taste in his mouth from the way last year’s NFC championship game ended.

I’m sure he replays that interception and all of the Adrian Peterson fumbles over and over in his head.

Henderson suffered a broken leg last year during a gruesome play that caused many to look away.

The rehabilitation schedule is on track and Henderson thinks he will be in the starting lineup for the season opener against the New Orleans Saints.

He has had no setbacks in his rehab, which is good news for the Vikings and their star linebacker.

Getting Henderson back on the field will certainly make a big difference on the defensive side of the ball.

Saints safety Darren Sharper began the feud after posting “X marks the spot” on Twitter in response to Brett Favre’s injury.

Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe wasn’t pleased, tweeting back that the team knows Sharper had knee surgery and will be aiming for it.

That angered Sharper, who replied that he and Shiancoe should put a game check on the line when the two teams meet in the season opener.

This budding rivarly is already getting nasty, which means the season opener should be a treat for all fans.
