Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson tore his ACL and MCL in the team’s victory over the Washington Redskins.

Peterson left the game in the third quarter with a knee injury, and it didn’t take long for the team’s worst fears to be realized.

The running back was coming off a significant ankle injury just a few weeks ago and only received 10 carries in the last game.

He was perplexed and confused about his lack of carries and made it clear that he wanted the ball more against the Redskins.

It’s a devastating injury that will likely cost him a significant portion of next season and pushes Toby Gerhart up on the depth chart.

While the Vikings aren’t suddenly a playoff contender in the NFC, they are much more interesting to watch since benching Donovan McNabb.

Christian Ponder has proven to be a an upgrade over McNabb, who seems more interested in collecting a paycheck than making plays.

While he has only seen action in three games, Ponder is doing a good job of utliizing his medicore receivers and moving the ball down the field.

The Vikings also benefitted from a chip-shot field goal missed by Olindo Mare that would have tied the game at the end of regulation.

The Vikings jumped out to an early lead, but for the first time this season, found themselves trailing at halftime.

Running back Adrian Peterson got almost 25 carries, but after a productive first half, finished with only 80 yards on the ground.

Meanwhile, quarterback Donovan McNabb continued to struggle, throwing for 202 yards and two touchdowns.

With the Vikings now 0-4, the chants for rookie Christian Ponder to replace McNabb at quarterback will only grow louder.

The Minnesota Vikings have placed the franchise tag on linebacker Chad Greenway.

The linebacker has become the heart and soul of the Minnesota defense, especially after E.J. Henderson missed major time with a leg injury.

He lead the team with 144 tackles last year and is also considered the quarterback of their defense by receiving the calls from the coach and relaying it to the other players.

Head coach Leslie Frazier said that Greenway is obviously a great player, but also a tremendous teammate both on and off of the field.

By slapping Greenway with the franchise tag, the Vikings now must find another way to keep wide receiver Sidney Rice on board.

Singletary is no stranger to the job, having held the same position with the Baltimore Ravens in the middle part of the decade.

The former 49ers head coach said it would be an honor to get a chance to work under Leslie Frazier.

He said he believes that the organization has a lot of the pieces necessary to put together something special.

Singletary did a great job in Baltimore working with Ray Lewis, so expect more of the same in Minnesota.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre took a huge step toward officially ending his football career by filing retirement papers with the NFL.

Favre has announced a few times in the past that was he was retiring, but never went about filing the official paperwork with the league.

Many NFL fans are probably thrilled at the news, and it makes it much more unlikely that Favre will be back in the spotlight come training camp.

However, I do wonder whether or not Favre might still get the itch to play sometime after next season starts and join a team that needs a quarterback.

Nonetheless, one of those teams won’t be Minnesota. Head coach Leslie Frazier already said he cannot envision a scenario that would give him reason to call Favre and see if he would return to the team.

The weary Minnesota Vikings came up just a little bit short in a 20-13 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Who can blame the Vikings for the loss considering it was their second straight road game after playing Tuesday night?

The Vikings are beat up at the quarterback position, having their top two guys injured, and have been subjected to a brutal travel schedule because of weather issues.

Quarterback Joe Webb finished with 145 yards passing and an interception. He also lead the team with 35 yards rushing.

Running back Adrian Peterson had just 31 yards on 14 carries, and the Vikings won’t win many games when he gets shut down like that.

With just one game to play, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre seems content to watch it play out from the sidelines.

Favre and the Vikings have decided that he will not play again this season, allowing Joe Webb an additional start.

Webb looked good in the win over the Eagles, which Favre sat out because of the after-effects of a concussion in the previous game.

Favre recently took a concussion test and did not pass, further sealing the fact that he will not return.

If it’s the latest we have seen of Favre, it’s been a lot of fun watching his career unfold over the years.

The Minnesota Vikings game against the Philadelphia Eagles have been pushed back because of a blizzard in the Northeast.

This is nothing new for the Vikings, who are now dealing with yet another change to their schedule because of weather issues.

The Vikings already had one of their home games pushed back and moved to Ford Field because of the collapse of the roof of the Metrodome.

They then had to play their next game at the University of Minnesota because the Metrodome roof has still not been completely repaired.

At this point, the Vikings probably hardly care because they are not going to the playoffs and just looking to play out the rest of the season.

Childress claimed players even came to him and said they were happy that he released Moss following his behavior at a team meal.
