The Minnesota Vikings jumped out to a four-touchdown lead en route to a 35-9 pasting of the Seattle Seahawks.
Quarterback Brett Favre had another ridiculous game, throwing four touchdown passes to lead the Vikings to another win.
It was a relatively quiet day for running back Adrian Peterson, who had 82 yards rushing and just over 100 total yards.
It was an outstanding effort from the defense, which completely shut down Seattle for the first three quarters.
As well as the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts are playing, no team is more balanced right now than the Vikings.

The Brett Favre show continued for another Sunday, leaving some to wonder whether the old man has discovered the supposed Fountain of Youth.
Favre threw four touchdowns and finished with a career high in completion percentage, as he guided the Vikings to an easy win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, 35-9.
Favre completed 22-of-25 passes for 214 yards and the four scores, with all four going to different receivers (WRs Percy Harvin, Bernard Berrian, and Sidney Rice, and TE Visanthe Shiancoe). This 88% completion percentage surpassed his former career-high of 85.2 percent that he set earlier this season when the Vikings faced Detroit, but Favre only threw for above 80 percent two other times in his 18-year playing career.
Despite the incredible performance, Favre revealed on Sunday that he’s had his doubts this season, and has needed reinforcement from longtime friend and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.
“I didn’t really believe or buy into it,” Favre said. “But as the season has progressed, Darrell is always saying, ‘I told you so. You can do it. You can make those throws.’
“Getting back to that confidence that I had when I didn’t know any better, that was pretty good. And I’m feeling more confident. I’m more of a realist at this age, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go out there and turn it loose.”
With Favre in the midst of yet another career-day of passing, RB Adrian Peterson took a back seat to the Vikings attack, carrying 24 times for a modest 84 yards (modest by his standards, anyway).
“I saw Brett after the game and said, ‘Would you retire, please,’ ” Seahawks coach Jim Mora said. “He said ‘You’ve been saying that to me for about eight years,’ and I said, ‘I know, and I’m going to keep saying it to you.’ The guy is remarkable, but we’ve still got to be better.”

The Minnesota Vikings came to an agreement with coach Brad Childress on Thursday that will keep him with the team through 2013, according to ESPN.com.
While specific details of the contract weren’t released, the deal is believed to be between $4 million and $5 million a year.
“Brad has done a tremendous job leading this football team and we value the positive environment he has created for the Minnesota Vikings on and off the field,” Vikings owner Zygi Wilf said in a statement. “He has continued to positively impact this team and create a strong foundation for future success.”
Childress left an offensive coordinator position in Philadelphia to become head coach of Minnesota, and has led the Vikings to a 32-25 career record. He brought the Vikes into the playoffs last season, where they were eliminated by those very same Eagles.
“My family and I are very fortunate to be a part of the Minnesota Vikings organization,” Childress said in a statement. “I value the opportunity to continue to lead this team over the next several years as we work toward our ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl for our passionate fans everywhere.”

QB Brett Favre has played with a number of great receivers over the course of his near-20-year NFL career… but WR Sidney Rice is doing his best to make Favre forget about all the rest. Favre and Rice hooked up for 201 yards on the day, as the Vikings glided past the Detroit Lions, 27-10, to move to 8-1 on the season.
“Sidney never surprises me,” said Adrian Peterson, who rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns. “I have a nickname for him, and it’s ‘Showtime.’ He’s got it tattooed on his arm. It fits him well.”
Rice’s progress can be traced to two distinct sources: Favre’s arrival in Minnesota, and a summer spent working out with some of the game’s best receivers. Now, Rice is doing his best to make Minnesota forget about another large, extremely talented receiver they once had.
“It seems like each game he’s getting better and better,” said left tackle Bryant McKinnie. “Some of those catches are definitely Randy Moss-esque.”
“Anyone can be stopped, but he sure is difficult to cover,” Favre said. “The type of plays he makes I think is what we all expect him to do.” In the past four games, Favre has hit Rice with 27 passes for 554 yards.
Rice fell just short of the team’s single-game receiving record, set by Sammy White with 210 yards against the Lions in 1976. He dropped the first pass that backup QB Tavaris Jackson threw his way when he relieved Favre late in the game. Rice reportedly punished himself by doing 25 push-ups on the sidelines.
With the victory, the Vikings are cruising in the NFC North with a three-game lead over the Packers with seven to play (and a season-sweep of the Packers gives the Vikes essentially a four-game lead).

The Minnesota Vikings didn’t make it easy on themselves but finally put away the pesky Detroit Lions, 27-10.
The Vikings rolled up a ton of offensive yards against the Lions but just struggled to get the ball into the end zone.
Quarterback Brett Favre had almost 350 yards passing and a touchdown before giving way to Tavaris Jackson with the game in the Vikings’ control.
Wide receiver Sidney Rice was the main benefactor with a personal-best 210 receiving yards, but he failed to reach the end zone.
Running back Adrian Peterson yet again topped the 100-yard rushing mark and found the end zone twice.
Peterson did have a costly fumble at the end of a long run that cost the Vikings at least a field goal and possibly a touchdown.

Vikings QB Brett Favre is currently battling a pulled groin muscle, but he believes his ironman starting streak will be fine this weekend as the Vikings take on the Detroit Lions.
Favre was originally injured in practice two weeks ago, and he aggravated the injury during warm-ups at Green Bay on Nov. 1, where the Vikings swept the season series against Favre’s old team.
“It was a concern for the game. I made it through. With a week’s rest I think I’ll be fine,” Favre said Wednesday. “But I’m not going to make it a bigger issue than it is. It’s kind of a new thing for me. To play 18 some-odd years and not have anything like that that probably worried me more than anything. But I think I’ll be fine.”
Favre did warn Vikings coach Brad Childress, offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, and backup QB Tavaris Jackson that he might not be able to finish the game against the Packers.
“I didn’t want to have to go into every drive or leave the huddle and say, ‘I have to play a little bit cautious this way,’ or ‘I hope I can get this handoff out there,”‘ Favre said.
But Favre plans on playing this weekend, as he only needs four more consecutive starts to pass former Vikings defensive lineman Jim Marshall’s record of 283 consecutive starts (the most by a non-kicker in NFL history).
“You have to have muscles to pull them,” Favre said, smirking. “Either that’s a sign of old age or I’m developing muscles for the first time in my career.”

Quarterback Brett Favre made his return to Lambeau Field count in a 38-26 victory over the Green Bay Packers.
It was a vintage Favre performance, as the quarterback threw for 244 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions.
The quarterback was booed heavily as he made his way out onto the field and still heard it nearly every time he had the ball.
It didn’t seem to bother him, though, as he carved up a Green Bay defense that is growing frustrated with their schemes.
Favre has now won both meetings with Green Bay this year and has certainly exacted the revenge he was secretly hoping for.

Step one was Brett Favre being able to beat his old team, the Packers, earlier this season in the friendly confines of the Metrodome. Step two: Lambeau Field, where Favre and the Vikings traveled on Sunday.
Favre used 16 years of playing experience at Lambeau to guide the Vikings to a 38-26 victory over the Packers that gives Minnesota a nearly insurmountable three-game lead in the NFC North.
For the second time in less than a month, Favre played nearly picture-perfect, while the Minnesota offensive and defensive lines completely outplayed their Green Bay counterparts.
With boos raining down from the Packer fans, Favre remained unfazed and undaunted behind an offensive line that allowed no sacks. The protection allowed Favre to go 17 of 28 for 244 yards and four touchdowns.
“Packer fans cheer for the Packers first,” Favre said. “I know that. But I hope that everyone in the stadium watching tonight said, ‘I sure hate those jokers on the other side, but he does play the way he’s always played.’”
The Vikings defense played the difference once again, as they sacked Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers six times and left him uncomfortable taking snaps all day. Rodgers did get some momentum going with WR Greg Jennings as a welcome sign for the Pack, including a can-you-believe-it touchdown catch where Jennings didn’t even appear to see the ball going into his own hands (he was busy drawing pass interference).
But as most Green Bay fans can remember, they had to watch the team led by #4 walk off victorious at the end of the day.
