Peterson looking for new deal

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is looking for a new contract from the team.

Peterson will make a big chunk of change the next two seasons, but all bets are off after that.

He is well aware of what happens to running backs once they hit the 30-year old mark and wants to make sure he gets paid again before that happens. ( Read More…)

Childress pays Favre a visit

Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress paid a visit to quarterback Brett Favre’s home in Mississippi.

Favre seems all but certain that he is coming back, but his actions and his words don’t seem to jive.

While he underwent ankle surgery and has been working out with a local high school team, he still says he doesn’t know if he will be back.

Favre said that the ankle is still giving him problems and that he wants it to finally heal up. ( Read More…)

Favre not worried about hurting body

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre said that he is no worried that he will further injure his body by coming back for another season.

The quarterback said that playing another season won’t make a difference since the damage has already been done.

He did say that football had become work for him until last year when it became a game again. ( Read More…)

Vikings encouraged by Henderson’s progress

The Minnesota Vikings are hopeful that linebacker E.J. Henderson will be ready to play in training camp.

Henderson suffered a broken leg last year during a gruesome play that caused many to look away.

The rehabilitation schedule is on track and Henderson thinks he will be in the starting lineup for the season opener against the New Orleans Saints.

He has had no setbacks in his rehab, which is good news for the Vikings and their star linebacker.

Getting Henderson back on the field will certainly make a big difference on the defensive side of the ball.

Vikings, Saints already talking trash

The Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints haven’t even started training camp yet, but both seem ready to get after each other.

Saints safety Darren Sharper began the feud after posting “X marks the spot” on Twitter in response to Brett Favre’s injury.

Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe wasn’t pleased, tweeting back that the team knows Sharper had knee surgery and will be aiming for it.

That angered Sharper, who replied that he and Shiancoe should put a game check on the line when the two teams meet in the season opener.

This budding rivarly is already getting nasty, which means the season opener should be a treat for all fans.

Still no word from Favre

As training camp gets closer, there is still no word on the status of quarterback Brett Favre for next season.

The Minnesota Vikings said that Favre is still contemplating whether or not to have ankle surgery.

It almost seems as though Favre is waiting as long as he can before deciding to have it, thus allowing him to miss a lot of training camp.

It’s no secret that Favre hates the grind of training camp and practice at this point in his career.

He has said time and again that he could play forever if all he had to do was suit up for the games.

Vikings stadium on hold for another year

The Minnesota Vikings look like they are no closer to having a new stadium built for them in the near future.

It looks like any type of talks with the state government will be put on hold until at least sometime next year.

The Vikings’ lease on the Metrodome runs out in 2012, but state officials do not seem concerned.

There doesn’t appear to be any other viable option for the Vikings than to stay put at this point.

There are very few cities without a football team that could even be considered an option, and none of those have any type of funding in place for a stadium deal.

Favre needs ankle surgery

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre’s impending decision on whether to play next season has taken an unexpected turn.

Favre had been secretly telling a few for some time that his injured ankle was not healing at all.

The quarterback paid Dr. Andrews a visit, who informed him that surgery would be required to fix his ankle.

The veteran is now contemplating whether to have surgery and return next year or simply opt to retire.

The surgery would not be very invasive, meaning very little would need to be done for Favre to be ready to play next season.

Vikings sign Sheppard

The Minnesota Vikings have signed cornerback Lito Sheppard, but contract terms have not been released.

Sheppard was a quality player for the Eagles through the middle part of the decade before he was traded to the New York Jets.

He did not fit in well with new head coach Rex Ryan and was eventually released after last season.

The Vikings have some concerns in the secondary and can certainly use him to add more depth.

He has a history of making big plays and has been to two Pro Bowls and the playoffs six times.
